On Saturday, September 20, after so much waiting, the big moment arrived: one of the two eggs in artificial incubation at the Fundación Parque Jaime Duque was born.
At approximately 10 a.m., we welcomed Wayra, the younger sister of Rafiki. Wayra, whose name means “Queen of the Wind”, is a female condor of the Andes that symbolizes the freedom and strength that inhabits the great sky that covers our majestic mountain range.
We are delighted to share this event and to reaffirm our commitment to the conservation of this species through the Andean Condor Conservation Program.
Today we celebrate life and say:
Long live Rafiki and Wayra, kings of the Andes!
