The Jaime Duque Park Foundation proudly celebrates the birth of Amber, the third Andean Condor hatchling born through artificial incubation in our conservation program. Her arrival represents a fundamental step for the protection of this emblematic species of Colombia and a symbol of hope for the future of our high Andean birds.
With an initial weight of 203 grams, after 62 days of incubation, 66 hours of hatching and an 18-minute assisted birth process, Amber arrived in the world at 10:18 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025. Her stable vital signs and undeniable beauty fill us with excitement and renewed commitment.
Despite initial difficulties - including rejection by her father during the first days of incubation - Amber showed remarkable strength. Today she joins Rafiki and Wayra as their younger sister, joining the Andean Condor Conservation Program in Colombia, where we hope to see her take to the Andean skies in the coming years.
We are deeply grateful to our visitors, friends and followers, who every day drive our work for the conservation of the national fauna. Your support makes it possible to continue building a community committed to protecting the Andean Condor, our flagship bird.
Extensive thanks to the Corporación Autónoma Regional de Cundinamarca (CAR) for accompanying us in the incubation process and for allowing us to develop an agreement that strengthens the conservation of both the condor and the Andean bear, two species that symbolize our natural wealth.
